If I thought my upper arms were sore going in to class, they have completely seized up now. After class, I could barely lift my arm high enough to get a glass out of the cupboard for a much-needed drink of water. We really worked hard today rediscovering the foundations for the poses and reconnecting with the earth and grounding to it. Lots of work on 'push-ups' and bandha controls for me. I felt like I was flopping and floundering all over the place most of the time but all good work.
My achievement for the day was getting into full lotus position. By showing me how one should soften their legs and hips but retaining bandha control, John was able to get me into a full lotus position. Not perfect but now I can see how it is done and move further into it. Very exciting. Felt radiant.
Just had a lovely warm shower and will make myself some toast with cashew butter and a cup of tea. Then will relax and read for a bit. Yesterday I bought some lovely Nelson region smoked salmon and will make a salmon and cucumber salad for my lunch. If I can move later I will have a short bike ride. If I can't move I will just roll along the ground.
And you better believe a nice cold glass of savvie is coming out later this afternoon.
Feeling great in Upper Moutere...
