Deja vu: another golden day at the beach

A girl could get tired of beautiful sunny days. No, wait, she couldn't.

Woke again to sunshine and birds. Feeling much better this morning so was able to do my practice although it was slow in parts (most parts). But I got through to Marichyasana D before I had to close with half-lotus (which was amazing that I could do even half-lotus given my bruised hip). John did amazing assistance on Utthita Hasta Padangustasana for me today. Even at the best of time this series of four poses is very hard for me but today with his help I could feel the pose and it gives me something to work towards. As John says about assistance and adjustments "the body remembers." Then when I was in half-lotus he came and adjusted me slightly so that I sat much firmer and my heart and chest felt so open. I was also incredibly happy with myself for having persevered through the stiffness and aches of my injuries and having kept moving and trying. I will look on all this as a metaphor (if that's the right term) for everything else -- keep moving, keep trying, all will come. I have not let myself down.

After class it was time for tea and toast (with cashew nut butter) and a shower. Got into my swimming cozzie and we headed out in the car for the beach again. Tamako came along with us today. Relaxed on the beach for a bit and then donned my swimming googles and headed in for a swim. Floated around in the water for awhile. There was a stream emptying out into the bay so you could body surf the current -- the current was quite strong. The water is salt water so nice to have the goggles for that reason as well as just being able to see! My arm wound stung for a bit (even though it is still bandaged) but I suppose the salt water will also help to cleanse it. After the swim I retired to the beach to dry off in the sun. It is amazing watching the tide go out. It happens so fast and then the whole shape of the beach changes. Interested to see some kids set up a cricket game on the beach. Where they set up the wicket (is that the word?) is where the water had come in to not 15 minutes before. I guess the tide is also more powerful and noticeable today as it was full moon last night.

After we had had enough sun we headed into Motueka to have a little snack and get some groceries. We then drove to Mapua via Ruby Bay and stopped for a coffee there before returning the rental car (and having a good play with the two border collies there). The rental car lady drove us back and I just made a quick pasta with pesto dinner and will now settle down with my book to read for a bit. Picked up a new bottle of savvie today -- purchased purely by the label, it has an illustration of a red tractor and is called 'Massey Dacta' (from Marlborough region). The name is apparently based on what the children called the tractor on the farm as they couldn't pronounce 'tractor'. The label is nice and fun and the wine is lovely.

Tomorrow is, as they say, another day. I am looking forward to my practice based on how I felt at the end of class today.
